Friend of mine had this problem too, ANet kindly set his region to euro. I think it had something to do with the PvP aspect of gaining favor, my mate had no rank, so np.
I do find the 5 changes thing anoying. Anyone who switches between 2 regions has the problem that his last change will take him away from his home region. Make it 4 or 6, uneven is just bad.

Only time I switched over was to experince the Winterersday patch before America did. 5 Minutes after joining Europe server, America got the patch >.<. Don't switch servers, this is why we have Interational Districts, watch the counter next time.

If you are helping guildies and your guild is international then just go to internationl dsitricts.
If you need to get into fow, then thats a different question.
Althogh if you have a team with a leader and a couple others on american servers then you can get to fow from the grenth statue in lornar's pass.

Supposedly, if you fire off an email to one of the A.Net support team and explain what happened... they should be able to do a "one time no more" type of switch to put you back into your original districts.

send in a support ticket explaining that you got stuck and request (politely) one last transfer home.
respond to the first automated response from them to get a person.
so far everybody who has asked for one last trip home has gotten it.
EDIT
THAT IS THE STOCK RESPONCE AND DOES NOT CHANGE WHAT I SAID ABOUT PEOPLE BEING GIVEN A FINAL TRIP HOME

It's now 4 changes for new accounts. Most likely Anet support only gives a final territory switch for 5-change people.

That's why there's an International District, so that you won't have to switch terroritories to help guildies who are from a different terroritory. I hate to sound harsh but it was your own stupidity to keep switching terroritories when all you could've done was travel to the International District to meet up with you guildies and help them out. But I guess what's done is done. Hopefully Anet will reset your account back to Europe terroritory but I don't really seeing that happening.

IMO it should be quite the opposite. Put people who had only 4 changes on the plane a transport them home. Just because they had only 4 changes, not 5 like those who made their account earlier.
Anyway, I made only 1 very carefull change in 10-11 month of play. I still have 4 left, so yay me. I played on American servers for 9-10 month and changed to euro districts one month ago. The truth is, players in american districts were much better... much more players, etc... But due to the massive hordes of idiots that invaded the game, i had to switch... and also there are some issues with favor, etc...

Does anybody read previous posts in a thread before posting? International dist. Yes we get it. How about 5 more posts telling the OP that he should have used International Districts.
What is the matter with people who post on the forums. You would think the guy shot up the local Post Office and was begging forgiveness. I think one post telling him he is out of luck and one saying maybe not, try doing this, would have sufficed. The guy was contrite, didn't bad mouth ANet, and yet he is subject to flames. I'm really happy to hear that most of you have never done anything really dumb while using a computer.

It's not that people don't feel sympathy for the person, I'm sure, so much as that everything is spelled out on the screen where you go to change territories. Literacy is a terrible skill not to have, but an even worse one not to use.
It's unfortunate what happened, and it would be nice for a happy ending in the form of getting a transfer back to Europe, but if it doesn't happen... Then it's a lesson about reading things thoroughly before you act.
Had the information been posted on their website with a text link that can't be pushed in the game client, I could understand missing it. Had it been written in fine print-ese, in tiny, barely legible text, or in obscure incomprehensible language, I could understand missing it. However, in this instance, it's neither.
In any case, good luck with the support team, and I hope you make it back.
Edit: As a note, the other reason I don't feel quite as much sympathy for the OP as I could is because this isn't the first time I've seen this -

[That was the first, not the last]

I would think they'd go ahead and change you. It's not like moving 1 last time is letting people exploit the favor system or anything.
It's in their best interest to do so and it doesn't take much effort, or hurt anything. I don't see why they wouldn't.
And as people have said so eloquently, you can go to international in any area to avoid changing locations in the future.

Well, I'd imagine it's because despite the cries that the OP was only asking for help, they titled their thread, "Lame", with an angry face like it was someone else's fault, so people want a piece of the action. Had they posted in the Q&A forum saying, "I used up all of my server changes without reading the limitations. I know what I did was foolish, and that I only have myself to blame, but I'd still like to be able to enjoy the game in the European server; Does anyone know if there's a way I could return to there?" that would be true;
But it wasn't...
So this is either a rant, a pity-party, or a very poorly worded question, instead.
In the future, I suggest choosing words more carefully when creating a thread.
As for the people who posted less than productive posts, more specifically, on the more aggressive side, is how to get these things dealt with, not any other method. [though PMing and admin/mod works too]
If you want to be a well-wisher and offer the OP good luck, you can still do it in PM's, because as the previous poster noted, this really should have been closed earlier, and thus it shall be now.
